Dogs missing their owners

What are some things to calm dogs down when they miss their owners?

If possible give the dog something that smells like his owner -- such as a piece of recently worn clothing to help ease his sadness during separation periods. Try to help the dog maintain his routine during this period and encourage him to do everyday things, such as take walks, go to favorite places or play. The more occupied you keep the dog, the less they'll miss the owner.
